An Introduction to Human Design Reflectors
Human Design Reflectors account for only about 1% of the population and are at the heart of their community. One could refer to them as “truth tellers” since they can indicate at any point how healthy the surrounding environment is. The name comes from the reflective nature of their aura. The world is reflected upon them, and they in turn reflect upon others.
What Are Reflectors in Human Design?
Reflectors are the unicorn of Human Design with no defined centers or channels in their chart. They are here to reflect their community back to them and be the barometer of its healthiness. The Reflector aura resists, samples and reflects other auras, effectively serving as mirror of society. The uniqueness of Reflectors is in their adaptability and the openness within their energy field, allowing them to sample, feel, and experience what surrounds them.
Strength of Human Design reflectors
Reflectors can often be overlooked due to the small number of people with this design. If they can anchor into what is true for them and find their inner power, they can be in any environment in a very powerful way. They may seem like a chameleon to the rest given how easily they blend into their surroundings. However, they have deep wisdom and potential related to the way their aura works. They sample the auras of the people around them by taking in a very small piece, and subsequently reflect back all of what has been received from the other side. Others see themselves reflected in and seen by the Reflector. This is a powerful effect to have on people.
The Reflector Strategy
Since Reflectors have no definition and no inner Authority their strategy is to wait a full lunar cycle before making a decision. Given their receptiveness, the Moon has a profound influence on them. As it travels through their chart, Reflectors can taste and experience the energy of all the other Human Design types through the transits. So after each lunar cycle they would have analyzed all aspects of the situation through the lens of all the other types and several different Authorities, making a decision as objectively as possible. This is particularly important around major decisions regarding where Reflectors live, who they live with, where they work, and who they collaborate closely with.
Tips for Human Design Reflectors
- Find the right environment: Due to the openness of their design, Reflectors are highly influenced by their immediate surroundings. Choosing friends, partners and communities wisely is critical as this has a drastic impact on their energy type and inner feelings. The healthy Reflector is a curator of the company they keep and the places they spend their time in. It’s important to invest in people and places that feel elevating and inspiring, and to create strong boundaries around anything that feels toxic or chronically draining.
- Rest: Alone time is equally important to pull away from other people’s energy and return to their own natural rhythm. Reflectors do this naturally as they are made to sample and return energy. There is an innate protective design in their aura that allows them to let go of energy once removed from the situation. The fast-paced lifestyle of modern day cities is generally not suited for Reflectors. They are likely to be much more comfortable in the countryside or nature.
- Respect the lunar cycle: Following their Strategy when making important decisions is key for Reflectors. With all the open centers, they need time to sort out what is theirs and what is someone else’s thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. Waiting a full lunar cycle for major decisions is highly recommended, but that doesn’t always have to be the case, especially with less critical matters. Reflectors should tune into what feels best for them and make time to contemplate what is truly working for them.
- Keep redefining yourself: Reflectors were never meant to be just one thing. They are meant to follow what lights them up and excites them. At times, this can be a reflection of what inspires the people around them. It’s important for Reflectors to pay attention to what they really love when no one else is around. No need to limit themselves to certain labels and definitions of who they are. Their magic will always be in their openness and fluidity.
Reflectors should not be expected to be consistent. Some days they may move mountains, others they would barely move themselves. They are a great synthesizer and simplifier. They genuinely understand people, environments, and situations because they become them. When the community they live within is supportive and nourishing, they truly blossom and shine among the rest.
