Key Components of the Human Design Chart
Centers
Centers are the energy centers of the Human Design chart, think of Chakras. Each center relates to specific aspect like communication, emotions, or identity. Defined centers (colored) indicate rock solid energy and strong aspects. Undefined centers (white) indicate vulnerability to external forces. The nine human design centers, include the Head, Ajna, Throat, etc. Being aware of your defined and undefined centers facilitates the understanding of your strong aspects and areas of potential weakness.
Gates and Channels
Gates refer to specific themes or personality traits in the centers, and each of these represents a different energy or potential. Channels link two gates, acting as pathways of energy movement from center to center. Human design gates and channels together illuminate more subtle aspects of your personality, life purpose, and your energy pattern as it relates to other people. Activated gates and clear channels develop regular patterns, whereas undefined gates identify areas of sensitivity and openness.
Profile Lines
These Lines of the Profile describe the role of the character you play in life and how you connect with people, putting together two of your unique numerals from your conscious and unconscious blueprints. You have 12 combinations, e.g., 1/3 (Investigator-Martyr) or 4/6 (Opportunist-Role Model). Each line describes a different life theme, relational style, and learning style. Knowing your profile, you can see how you connect to the world and how you can most successfully fulfill your role.
Understanding the Five Types in the Chart
Human Design Generator
Generators are active doers with a clear Sacral Center, for whom life is dedicated to work they love. They must wait to respond to the right opportunities. If they do their sacral energy opens up and they can sustain their work, it is easy. If they don’t respond properly and push and initiate from their mind, they will struggle and feel frustrated.
Manifesting Generators
Manifesting Generators are do-it-all workers combining Generator stability and Manifestor initative. Their Strategy/Pattern is to “inform” and “respond” before they act. Manifesting Generators thrive on projects where they can use their almost limitless energy. However they can feel anger and resistance if they don’t inform what they want to do.
Projectors
Projectors are guides meant to direct the energy of others. Without a clear Sacral Center, they rely on waiting for the right “invitation” to thrive. They do well if they are invited by others to be the guide on a project or a relationships. They do not have sustained energy to work and rely on others for it.
Manifestors
Manifestors are initiators of a motor-to-Throat connection, so they can take action without waiting. Their strategy is to “inform” others before they act, so other’s don’t resist them. Manifestors excel at freedom, creating impact, but can experience anger if repressed or out of balance with their creative potential.
Reflectors
Reflectors are mirrors of their environment as all of their Centers are open. They need to wait 28 days (one full Moon Cycle) before they make decisions. They thrive in supportive settings, offering valuable insights and reflecting the collective energy around them.
Authority in the Chart: Decision-Making Style
Human Design Authority is your internal decision-making compass, guiding you to make choices aligned with your true self. It is part of your human design chart analysis. It bypasses mental reasoning, relying instead on bodily signals like emotions, intuition, or gut responses. Understanding and trusting your Authority ensures clarity, reduces resistance, and fosters authentic, fulfilling decisions in life.
Emotional Authority
Emotional Authority relies on clarity gained over time rather than immediate decisions. Emotional waves must be felt fully before reaching certainty. Those with this Authority benefit from patience, as clarity comes after experiencing emotional highs and lows, leading to better-aligned and fulfilling choices.
Sacral Authority
Sacral Authority depends on gut responses, which are immediate and instinctual. This “yes” or “no” sensation arises from the defined Sacral Center. Trusting this internal guidance helps individuals make decisions that align with their energy and ensure satisfaction in their pursuits.
Splenic Authority
Splenic Authority relies on intuition and instinct, offering subtle, immediate signals about what feels safe or right. These fleeting impressions guide decisions rooted in survival and well-being. Listening carefully to these subtle cues helps individuals act in alignment with their natural instincts.
Ego Authority
Ego Authority is centered in the Heart (Ego) Center and is driven by personal willpower and desires. Decisions are made based on what truly feels motivating and beneficial for the individual. Honoring one’s needs and commitments ensures authentic and sustainable choices.
Self-Projected Authority
Self-Projected Authority comes from the G Center, guiding decisions through verbal self-expression. Talking through options with trusted individuals helps clarify what feels right. Authenticity and alignment with one’s identity and direction are key to making correct decisions.
Environment (Mental) Authority
This Authority applies to Reflectors or Projectors with undefined inner authorities. Decisions are guided by engaging with the right environments and trusted advisors. Time and external feedback provide clarity, emphasizing the importance of the surrounding energy.
Lunar Authority
Lunar Authority is exclusive to Reflectors, requiring them to wait a full lunar cycle (28 days) before making major decisions. This period allows them to process the various energies they encounter, leading to clarity and alignment with their true self.

Testimonials: User Experiences with Chart Insights
My go-to Human Design app for a few years
Since I’ve started learning Human Design a few years ago I downloaded this Human design app and have been adding other peoples profiles on it and using it as a way to show others their design – and also to go back to look at mine as I keep going on my Human Design experiment. I love having these charts to reflect on too for my own learning of HD. The features have gotten deeper over the years and has more info than just the basics, which is cool. It really has everything you need to have your chart on hand and be able to pull someone else’s chart during a conversation. Have had many conversations with this app 🙂
Grateful
I’ve been studying HD for around 6 years and have used this app for just about as long. I have some apps/software/subscriptions that do more things (and cost way more money), but I often come back to this app for so many things, because I love the interface and it does most of the things I do daily. It’s also so very beautiful.
